About This Report

Abstract:

Looking at the most recent data, the Eurozone manufacturing sector seems to be bouncing back faster than expected. However, this recovery is led by just the core Eurozone countries whose pattern of specialisation allows them to benefit more from external factors, in particular, strong investment in Asia. With the expected moderation in growth in the rest of the world, manufacturing activity is likely to slow down markedly during the rest of the year to be more in line with still subdued domestic demand growth. In addition, credit conditions may hamper manufacturing activity as banks, worried about the quality of their collateral, liquidity and funding conditions, are still tightening credit standards
