About Ovum

Almost one-third of IT-related expenditure from the UK education market is generated by the tertiary or higher education sector. As a consequence of the introduction of student tuition fees, higher education institutions are increasingly competing for students. In a move to differentiate, they turn to IT, which is seen as a means for improving the student experience. To be able to do so, IT departments have started to undergo a cultural change and have adopted a more customer-facing, service-oriented outlook. Economic pressures are also forcing IT departments to reconsider their priorities and support the growth of outsourcing as well as the deployment of SaaS-based offerings to realise cost savings and improve efficiency.
