From 2002 onwards, China's automobile industry has entered into a rapid development period of production and sales, both breaking through the 7 million mark in 2006. Domestic vehicle production reached 7.28 million, surpassing Germany to become the world's 3rd largest auto-producing countries with a growth rate of 27.5%. For the next few years, the auto industry is expected to maintain a growth rate of about 10%-15%. By 2010, the domestic auto output will reach 10 million to become the world's largest and fastest growing international auto market. Moreover, as China's automobile sector developed with the help of the west, it has been growing at a considerably higher rate than the country?s GDP.
