Contractors in the Water Main, Sewer System and Related Project Construction industry build and maintain the infrastructure that both water-only companies (WOCs) and water and sewerage companies (WaSCs) rely on. Throughout this report WaSCs and WOCs are jointly referred to as water companies. Consumer demand for water is increasing, but this has not brought reliable rises in industry revenue. The amount that water companies spend on the industry's services is scrutinised by the Water Services Regulation Authority (Ofwat), which approves asset management plans (AMPs) covering five-year periods.
The industry includes contractors that build distribution lines to transport fluids and construct the buildings and structures to support these systems. This includes the construction of long-distance and urban pipelines, water mains, sewer systems, irrigation systems and pumping stations.
The report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecast, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
