Landfill is out of favour and recycling is in. A hole in the ground is no longer considered appropriate for Australia's rubbish unless it is used to produce renewable energy. In recent years, several government strategies have been implemented, aimed at reducing the volume of waste generated and increase the amount of waste recycled and recovered. A national group of packaging producers renewed its commitment to higher levels of recycling. Industry operators are responding by increasing their investment in recycling and alternative disposal facilities.
Operators in this industry collect, dispose and recycle waste. Activities include the management of municipal solid waste, commercial and industrial waste, and construction and demolition waste. The industry excludes the waste management activities of government.
The report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecast, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
