Revenue for the Paper and Paperboard Container Manufacturing industry in China is set to reach $72.8 billion in 2014, up 8.4% for the year, with average annualized increases of 13.3% since 2009. Weaker growth in 2009 was influenced by the global financial crisis, which resulted in a drop in demand for paper and paperboard products by downstream industries.
Industry output increased from 39.2 million tons of paper products, including 18.3 million tons of paperboard boxes in 2009 to 65.2 million tons of paper products in 2014. This represents annualized increases of 12.6% for the five years through 2014.
The Paper and Paperboard Container Manufacturing industry purchases paper, paperboard and old corrugated containers (OCC) from mills and converts them into paperboard containers. Industry products include corrugated paperboard containers, folding or solid cartons made of other paper, paper sacks, paper bags, file boxes and file sacks.
