About This Report

Abstract:

Lumber wholesalers distribute lumber, plywood, millwork and wood panel products to residential, industrial and commercial construction companies, hardware stores and carpentry contractors in the United States. Industry revenue performance has been volatile over the past five years. As a major supplier of wood products for the residential construction sector, the Lumber Wholesaling industry suffered a severe contraction in demand during the housing slump and through 2012. In the coming years, the industry is expected to grow more strongly due to positive construction market conditions. In turn, construction markets will be fueled by rising disposable incomes, improving business confidence and low interest rates.

This industry distributes a range of lumber, plywood, millwork and wood panel products to contractors, home improvement stores and hardware stores. The industry does not include wholesalers that distribute nonwood roofing and siding materials, nor does it include establishments that distribute timber and timber products, such as railroad ties, logs, firewood and pulpwood. However, it does include distributors of nonwood doors, windows and frames and distributors of metal millwork.

The report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecast, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
