General declines in non-residential construction activity have contributed to industry revenue falls over the five years through 2014-15. Declines in commercial and industrial building construction in 2009-10 and 2010-11 were partly offset by increased institutional and high-rise apartment construction, which mitigated demand declines for industry products during these years. Some positive growth from multi-unit construction and the commercial sector contributed to industry growth in 2013-14, with further rises expected in 2014-15.
