Floor covering wholesalers are struggling to compete in a market that increasingly bypasses them. On top of this, a slowdown in construction activity and demand for home renovations has constrained demand for flooring products during the past five years. IBISWorld estimates that industry revenue will increase at an annualised 0.7% over the five years through 2012-13. The industry is forecast to generate revenue of $2.2 billion in 2012-13, up by a marginal 0.4% on 2011-12.
Increasingly, the floor coverings industries have been undergoing vertical integration, where operators own establishments throughout the value chain in manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing.
Floor covering wholesalers distribute floor coverings and are the link between manufacturers and retailers. Industry operators wholesale carpets, tiles, natural flooring and vinyl flooring. Ceramic tiles are excluded from the industry.
The report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecast, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
