The Australian Biscuit Manufacturing industry has faced challenging market conditions over the past five years. Higher imports, volatile input prices and fast-disappearing profit margins have resulted in a number of biscuit makers crumbling. Operators that have recently made headlines after going into administration include Unibic, Waterthins and the Byron Bay Cookie Company. Other food processors have left the industry, including Goodman Fielder that, in February 2014, completed the sale of the second-largest biscuit manufacturer Paradise Food Industries.
The Biscuit Manufacturing industry covers companies involved in the manufacture of biscuits, including biscuit dough, predominantly from factory-based premises. It does not include those companies that bake and sell biscuits directly to consumers from the same premises.
The report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecast, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
