Considerable scope for growth remains across all food segments. Investment by multinational companies will continue to contribute to the gradual strengthening in demand for higher-value food products. ...The need for foreign direct investment in agriculture is likely to create favourable investment opportunities and an abundance of willing partners. With the Pakistani government now putting its weight behind the development of the domestic Halal industry, there is potential for the country to emerge as a significant force in the global Halal market. All segments of the soft drinks industry have yet to become saturated. ...Pakistan boasts an enormous potential market, even if the majority of the population currently remains beyond the reach of modern retail outlets. Supermarkets can capitalise on tariff reductions and increased transparency of import regulations to meet the increasing demand for imported products.
