Abstract:

Congestion At Kuwait Ports: Kuwait s port of Shuwaikh was hit by congestion in the second half of ----. One of the factors behind this was the breakdown of gantry cranes, meaning that ships could not be loaded and unloaded as efficiently as usual. ...New customs procedures introduced at Kuwaiti ports in the summer have exacerbated the problem, as have perennial problems with dust storms. That said, the opening of the new Mubarak al-Kabir facility, now expected to happen in ----, will boost volumes in the country.

...US Withdrawal Potential Boost For Shuaiba: The US military is withdrawing from Afghanistan after over -- years of conflict and peacekeeping in the country. This has created a potential boost for the Kuwaiti port of Shuaiba s throughput volumes, as the US is stockpiling equipment deemed too valuable or dangerous to destroy or leave in Afghanistan at the port. ...
