Abstract:

Although Indonesia has returned to relative orderliness since the post- Suharto chaos of the late ----s and early ----s, the country faces multiple challenges and threats to its stability that could flare up again if the opposition to president Joko Jokowi Widodo proves excessively obstructionist. Overall, Indonesia remains one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and cor- ruption scandals from time to time take a toll on senior figures and undermine faith in institutions.
