BMI forecast consumer electronics spending will increase by -.- in USD dollar terms in ---- to a value of USD--.-bn. This is a small upward revision from our previous forecast as a result of a stabilisation of the regional economic outlook in H---, and a less bearish rupiah outlook adopted by our Indonesia Country Risk team. ...This is a small upward revision from our previous forecast as a result of a stabilisation of the regional economic outlook in H---, and a less bearish rupiah outlook adopted by our Indonesia Country Risk team. There is however still downside from policy uncertainty after import taxes were raised on computers in ----, which had a detrimental impact in H--- but it is not possible to draw clear conclusions as significant depreciation also hurt affordability in ---- The environment will remain challenging in ----, but it should be noted that we expect performance to improve from ---- as the economic environment improves slightly. Real GDP growth of -.- is forecast for ----, up from -.- in ----, and -.- real private final consumption growth, up from -.- in ----. This is reflected in our view for PC volumes, which contracted by --.- in ---- as Indonesian purchasing power of imports was eroded - but growth of -.- is forecast for ----. Growth is nonetheless significantly below the medium-term trend due to affordability pressures, limiting the scope for vendors to tap the low household PC penetration rate of --.- at YE--, the second lowest in our APAC IT market coverage.
