Tourist arrivals, previously forecast to fall by -.- over the year, are now set to fall by -.- . ...Dutch airline KLM recently announced it would be stopping all flights to Cairo from January - ----. The UK has also expressed the possibility of restoring flights to Sharm El-Sheik if Egyptian authorities meet British security requirements.

...Egypt s tourism market is well established, as the country has long been a popular destination for travellers from European markets, particularly in the package holiday sector. As a result, the hotel and accommodation industry is very well developed in Red Sea coastal areas and in the capital, Cairo. In addition to beach tourism, Egypt offers an enormous range of historical and cultural attractions, with seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as numerous museums and other cultural and religious sites. The many attractions, well-developed infrastructure and supportive government have all helped to create a highly resilient tourism industry, which has in previous years successfully returned to growth after periods of turmoil and decline. This is a trend we expect to see repeated during the current forecast period, but we caution that the next few years will be extremely difficult for the market. ...However, due to the country s reputation as an excellent holiday location and the weakness of the Egyptian pound offering good deals, arrival numbers will slowly begin to improve.
