Botswana has undertaken extensive market reforms in recent years and has now established a position as one of the more open, transparent and corruption free countries in Africa. This makes the market more attractive to investors in an increasingly competitive region. ...The country does boast a wide range of ecotourism attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Okavango Delta, and offers considerable scope for development as a safari holiday and ecotourism destination - a sector which attracts high spend visitors from affluent Western markets, particularly the United States. The government is highly committed to development of the tourism industry and over the long term, supported by extensive investment in transport and accommodation infrastructure, we would expect to see steady growth in tourism arrivals, though the market is heavily reliant upon regional stability and an avoidance of events like the Ebola outbreak which, although it did not impact Botswana directly, had a destabilising effect on travel throughout Africa.
