BMI View: In all three cities and in all three real estate investment segments, we are seeing similar trends. Little investment activity combined with sustained demand and falling vacancy rates. ...Household spending, the key driver of retail performance, is forecast to pick up in response to lower inflation. Reducing levels of unemployment and increasing income levels will act to support increases in household spending, benefitting retailers and attracting new companies to the market, with tourism also representing a strong and consistent flow of income for the sector. Low levels of new supply combined with sustained demand have acted to reduce vacancy rates and potentially drive up rental cost should development activity not pick-up.
