In July ----, the pharmaceutical industry in Argentina confirmed its agreement with PAMI, the nationwide public insurance system for the elderly, to be applicable until December ----, begrudgingly accepting PAMI s monthly payment cap of ARS---.-mn (USD---.-mn), which is below actual invoices by the industry at around ARS---.-mn (USD---.-mn), ...Also in July, domestic pharmaceutical producers in Argentina initiated judicial actions to challenge the international tender --/---- launched by the Ministry of Health according to which the government, in an attempt to reign on prices, will accept tender offers from pharmaceutical firms from any country and do not prioritize local producers as it was the case in previous legislation. In June ----, the new head of Argentina s Intellectual Property regulatory body INPI, Damaso Pardo, requested the Ministry of Production, Francisco Cabrera, the elimination of certain patent normative under Patentability Guidelines , which have allegedly acted in detriment of pharmaceutical investment and are associated with the patent system dysfunction and backlog generated in INPI under the former administration headed by Mario Aramburu over the last -- years. Also in June, Mexico-based PharmaDorf acquired most of Argentina-based Bago s Women s Health business for an amount close to USD--mn. ...In June ----, the new head of Argentina s Intellectual Property regulatory body INPI, Damaso Pardo, requested the Ministry of Production, Francisco Cabrera, the elimination of certain patent normative under Patentability Guidelines , which have allegedly acted in detriment of pharmaceutical investment and are associated with the patent system dysfunction and backlog generated in INPI under the former administration headed by Mario Aramburu over the last -- years.
