Navoi Free Economic Industrial Zone (NFEIZ) has a total area of 564 hectares. The production area will be located in 380 hectares and will be divided into 21 production clusters, 6.5 to 20 ha each. The range of industrial output will include: textiles, sewing and leather-shoe goods, foodstuff, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical output, building materials, as well as electro-technical, telecommunications, machine-building products and green field manufactured products. The expected term of operations of Navoi FIEZ is 30 years with a possible extension. One of the major privileges for foreign investors is that registered businesses in FIEZ will be exempted from land tax, property, profit, social infrastructure development taxes as well as unified tax payment (for small businesses), compulsory contributions to the Republican Road Fund and Republican School Fund from 7 to 15 years depending on the size of volume of invested foreign direct investment. Korean Air have recently has taken over the airport in Navoi region with further improvements and enhancements. The aim is turn Navoi into a regional logistics hub. It is said to be air+road+railway logistics, i.e. intermodal logistics hub. Since there are no such logistics centers in other Central Asian states, Uzbekistan is having a first mover advantage to launch it.
