| Abstract: | LONDON (Standard&Poor's) March 6, 2009--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services today said it had placed its 'A/A-1' counterparty ratings on U.K. bank Northern Rock PLC on CreditWatch with negative implications. The ratings on Northern Rock's senior unsecured and subordinated debt were similarly placed on CreditWatch with negative implications. "The CreditWatch placement reflects our view of the statements issued by Northern Rock and the U.K. government on Feb. 23, 2009 regarding the conclusions of Northern Rock's strategic review," Standard&Poor's credit analyst Richard Barnes said. "We plan to resolve the CreditWatch once the details of Northern Rock's planned legal and capital restructuring become available."
