...The Long\## and Short\##Term IDRs of Bradford & Bingley (B&B) reflect the sale of its branch network and customer deposits to Abbey National plc ( AA\## / Stable) and the transfer of the rest of the bank into public ownership. The Individual Rating reflects Fitch Ratings view that B&B has effectively failed and would have defaulted i n the absence of government intervention. HM Treasury has guaranteed B&B s wholesale deposits as well as secured and unsecured wholesale funds which existed at midnight on ## September ####. The guarantee is in place for an initial six months and any extension is subject to the submission and approval of a restructuring plan in accordance with the European Commission s Rescue and Restructuring Guidelines.
