OVERVIEW: Elections are expected before the end of 2009 in several OECS member states. High levels of public-sector debt will remain a worry for all independent OECS jurisdictions. High oil prices will continue to put a strain on the external accounts of the region's economies. The rate of growth in tourism is expected to fall as economic growth in the US and Canada slows.
