| The Group's principal activities are managing and operating pub estate. It sells food and drink through its public houses, inns and restaurants in the United Kingdom. In 2006, the Group transferred its brewing and wholesaling activities to Wells & Young's Brewing Company Limited, thereby focusing on its retail activities. As of March 2007, the Group's retail business comprises 216 pubs, of which 114 were operated as managed pubs and 102 as tenanted or leased ones. The Group is headquartered in London, United Kingdom and employs about 2,200 people. |
