| The Group's principal activities are divided into four segments which include refining and marketing, exploration and production, chemical and central administration and others. Refining and marketing segment includes the refining and marketing of crude petroleum and its derivatives to third parties. Exploration and production segment includes the contractual purchase of gas and crude petroleum derived from services and concessions, as well as the sale of intersegment crude petroleum and natural gas. Chemical segment involves petrochemical operations. Other activities involve the administration of the group, construction and other environment remediation. The Group exports its products to the United States, Brazil and Chile. In 2007, the Group acquired 18% additional participation in Oleoducto Trasandino (Argentina) SA , 18% participation in Oleoducto Trasandino (Chile) SA and 18% in A&C Pipeline Holding Company. |
