The Group's principal activity is to operate a chain of retail food and drug stores. The stores offer national brands as well as its private label products. The products sold through the retail stores include groceries, meats, seafood, produce, deli, bakery, floral, health and beauty and other general merchandise. The retail store also operates pharmacies, photo labs and other special service departments. The Group sells its product under the brand name Winn-Dixie and Winn-Dixie Marketplace. As of 24-Jun-2009, the Group operated 515 retail stores in five states located primarily in the southeastern United States and had 401 pharmacies, 74 liquor stores and 5 fuel centers in its stores. The Group operates only in the United States.
