The Group's principal activity is to sell home products. It operates in two segments: Retail and Direct-to-customer. The Retail segment sells products through four retail concepts: Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and Hold Everything. The Direct-to-customer segment sells products through four e-commerce websites and eight direct-mail catalogs. The eight direct-mail catalogs are Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Bed and Bath, PBteen, West Elm and Williams-Sonoma Home. As on 01-Feb-2009, the Group operated 627 retail stores in 44 states. The Group purchases its merchandise from foreign and domestic manufacturers and importers.
