| The Group's principal business is that of an electric utility providing electric generation, transmission and distribution services to approximately 667,000 customers in Kansas. It provides these services in central and northeastern Kansas, including the cities of Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Salina and Hutchinson. Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KGE), its wholly owned subsidiary, provides these services in south-central and southeastern Kansas, including the city of Wichita. The energy centers in eight Kansas cities generate more than 6,100 megawatts of electricity and it operates and coordinates 33,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines. |
