The Group's principal activity is the franchising of the Arby's service restaurants. The Group operates two business segments: Franchising of restaurants and Asset Management. The Group licenses the owners and operators of independent businesses to use the Arby's brand name and trademarks in the operation of Arby's restaurants. These restaurants are specialized in the roast beef sandwich segment of the quick service restaurant industry. The restaurants also offer menu of chicken, turkey, ham sandwiches, side dishes and salads. As of 28-Dec-2008, there were 1,406 Wendy's restaurants and 5,224 by a total of 469 franchisees. It also offers a diverse range of fixed income and credit-related strategies to institutional investors through its wholly-owned subsidiary Deerfield Capital Management LLC. On 29-Sep-2008, the Group acquired WendyR17's International Inc.
