| The Group's principal activities are to own and operate retail food stores. The Group's retail food stores sell groceries, dairy products, frozen foods, meats, seafood, fresh produce, floral, prescriptions, deli and bakery products, prepared foods, fuel and general merchandise items, such as health and beauty care and household products. The Group operates conventional supermarkets under the trade names Scot's Lo-Cost and Save-A-Lot. As of 27-Dec-2008, the Group operated 155 retail food stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, West Virginia and New York and a chain of 27 SuperPetz LLC pet supply stores in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee. |
