| The Group's principal activities are to provide integrated waste management services like collection, transfer, recycling, disposal and waste-to-energy services. The Group operates in six segments: Eastern, Midwest, Southern, Western, WMRA, Wheelabrator and Other. It develops, operators and owns waste-to-energy facilities. The services are provided to commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers, other waste management companies, electric utilities and governmental entities. As on 31-Dec-2007, the Group owned 271 solid waste and six hazardous waste landfills. The Group operated in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. |
