Thomson Financial Business Description:
| The Group's principal activities are to produce and export metallurgical coal for the global steel industry and also to produce steam coal, coal bed methane gas, furnace and foundry coke and other related products. It operates in five segments: Natural Resources, Sloss, Homebuilding, Financing and Other. The Natural Resources segment includes coal mining, methane gas operations and royalties and land sales generated by certain land holdings. Sloss manufactures foundry and furnace coke and slag fiber. The Homebuilding segment markets and supervises the construction of detached and single-family residential homes. The Financing segment provides mortgage financing on homes constructed by the Homebuilding segment and purchases mortgages originated by others. The Other segment includes the other land divisions and corporate expenses. On 31-Aug 2007, the Group acquired Tuscaloosa Resources, Inc. |
