| The Group's principal activity is to operate retail stores in various formats. It operates in three segments: Wal-Mart, Online Retail Operations and walmart.com. Walmart Retail segment includes: Discount Stores, Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets. The International segment includes numerous different formats of retail stores and restaurants, including discount stores, supercenters and Sam's Clubs. SamR Club segment consists of membership warehouse clubs. The Group is engaged in the operations of retail stores located in all 50 states of the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom, Central America, Chile, Mexico,India and China. At 31-Jan-2009, it operated 891 discount stores, 2,612 supercenters, 153 Neighborhood Markets and 602 SamR Clubs in the United States. |
