| The Group's principal activity is to supply facilities maintenance and other related products in North America. It operates through three segments: Grainger Branch-based Distribution, Acklands - Grainger Branch-based and Lab Safety. The Grainger Branch-based provide customers with product solutions for facility maintenance and other product needs through logistics networks which are configured for rapid product availability. It distributes material handling equipment, safety and security supplies, lighting and electrical products. Acklands - Grainger Branch-based segment distributes industrial, automotive fleet and safety supplies. The Lab Safety segment markets safety and other industrial products to US and Canadian businesses. The Group serves its customers through a network of approximately 593 branches, 18 distribution centers. On 31-Jan-2006, the Group acquired Rand Materials Handling Equipment Co and Professional Inspection Equipment, Inc on 17-Nov-2006. |
