| The Group's principal activity is to own and lease healthcare-related and senior housing facilities. At 31-Dec-2007, the portfolio consisted of 253 seniors housing communities, 197 skilled nursing facilities, 42 hospitals and 27 medical office and other properties in 43 states. The Group also has real estate loan investments relating to healthcare and senior housing facilities located in Ohio and Maryland. The Group leases these facilities to healthcare operating companies under leases. The Group has been approved as a real estate investment trust by the internal revenue code of 1986. |
