The Group's principal activity is providing entertainment and information. It operates in four business segments. The Media Networks segment comprises of domestic broadcast television network, television production and distribution operations, domestic television stations, cable/satellite networks, domestic broadcast radio networks and stations, and internet and mobile operations. Parks and resort segment owns and operates The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, The Disneyland Resort in California and ESPN Zone facilities in several states. The Studio Entertainment segment produces and acquires live-action and animated motion pictures, direct-to-video programming, musical recordings and live stage plays. The Consumer Products segment licensees for manufacturers, publishers and retailers throughout the world to design, promote and sell a wide variety of products. It acquired UTV Software Communications Limited on 09-May-2008.
