The Group's principal activities are generating and distributing electric power. The Group operates in seven business segments: Latin America Utilities, Latin America Generation, North America Generation, Europe & Africa Generation, Europe & Africa Utilities and Asia Generation. Through its Generation business, the Group sells power to wholesale customers such as utilities or other intermediaries. In addition to its traditional generation and distribution operations, it also develops an alternative energy business. It currently own or operate 124 Generation facilities in 29 countries on five continents. It own a portfolio of electricity generation and distribution businesses with generation capacity totalling approximately 43,000 MW and distribution networks serving more than 11 million people worldwide. The Group has international operations in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean countries
