The Group's principal activity is that of an Investment Trust Company. The objective of the Group is to provide growth in income and capital to achieved a long term total return greater than the benchmark FTSE All-Share Index, through investment primarily in the United Kingdom securities. The Group is an Investment Company within the meaning of Section 833 of the Companies Act 2006. The Group has been approved by the HM Revenue and Customs as an Investment Trust for the purposes of Section 842 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 for the year ended 31-Dec-2007. Investment management services are provided by Investec Investment Management Ltd for a fee calculated at the rate of 0.35% per annum, payable quarterly, based on the value of the investments (including cash) of the Group. The agreement is subject to one year's notice of termination by either party.
