The Group's principal activity is to merchandise apparels for men, women and children. It also provides accessories, gifts, linens and shoes. The accessories consist of fashion-oriented, brand name, designer and private label jewelry. The gifts and linens departments consist of fashion-oriented gifts for the home and a wide range of table, bath and bed linens. The shoe department is a leased department operated in individual stores by one of two shoe retailers. The Group owns the trademark Stein Mart(R). As at 31-Jan-2009, the Group operated 276 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.
