The Group's principal activity is providing banking and other financial services. Its operation are carried out through two divisions Consumer Banking and Wholesale Banking. Consumer Banking provides credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, deposit taking and wealth management services to individuals and small to medium sized enterprises. Wholesale Banking provides corporate and institutional clients with services in trade finance, cash management, lending, custody, foreign exchange, debt capital markets and corporate finance.In February 2008, the Group acquired American Express Bank Ltd. As on 31-Dec-2008, the Group had over 1,600 branches and outlets located in over 70 countries.
