| The Group's principal activities are to operate and franchise a chain of quick-service drive-in restaurants in the United States and Mexico. As of 31-Aug-2007, the Group operated 3,343 restaurants consisting of 654 Partner Drive-Ins and 2,689 Franchise Drive-Ins in the southern two-thirds of United States. Partner Drive-Ins are operated by either a limited liability company or a general Partnership. Franchise Drive-Ins are owned and operated by its franchisees. These restaurants sell signature items such as specialty soft drinks, frozen desserts and other fast food items. The Group also sells and leases of signs and real estate. It has two operating subsidiaries, Sonic Industries Inc and Sonic Restaurants Inc. Sonic Industries Inc serves as the franchisor of the Sonic Drive-In chain, as well as the administrative services center. Sonic Restaurants Inc develops and operates the Partner Drive-Ins. |
