The Group's principal activities are supplying water, and treating and disposing sewage. The Group supplies drinking water and waste water services from mid-Wales to Rutland and from the Bristol Channel to the Humber through 46,000 kilometer of pipes, and a further 54,000 kilometer of sewers. It also has integrated waste management businesses, providing collection, landfill and special waste services. The Group operates in two segments: Severn Trent Water and Severn Trent Services. Severn Trent Water segment, provides water and sewerage services to domestic and commercial customers in England and Wales. Severn Trent Services, provides services and products associated with water, waste water and contaminated land principally in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. On 08-May-2009, the Group disposed off its meters business.
