Seattle Genetics, Inc. (Seattle Genetics) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of monoclonal antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. In August 2009, the Company completed enrollment to a trial of its lead product candidate, brentuximab vedotin (SGN-35), for patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma under a special protocol assessment (SPA) with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Brentuximab vedotin is empowered by the Company’s antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology comprising synthetic drugs and linkers for attaching the drugs to monoclonal antibodies. As of December 31, 2009, it had an ongoing Phase IIb trial of lintuzumab (SGN-33) for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In addition, Seattle Genetics has three other product candidates in ongoing clinical trials: dacetuzumab (SGN-40), SGN-70 and SGN-75.
