| The Group's principal activity is the production of commercial steel. The Group operates through five segments; Strip Production, IPSCO; Plate Division, Tibnor and Other. The Strip Production segment manufactures hot and- cold rolled, metal-coated and organic-coated steel sheeting mainly for the engineering, automotive and construction industries. The IPSCO provides plate and energy tubulars in the North Americas. Alongside the plate and coil production the segment also produces blast and painted products. Plate Division manufactures heavy plate in grades ranging from quenched steel, construction steel and abrasion-resistant steels. Tibnor sells and distributes steel, non-ferrous metals and industrial supplies. In 2007, the Group acquired IPSCO Inc and Steinwalls Plat AB. |
