| The Group's principal activity is to provide credit enhancement to the global financial and capital markets. The Group operates through three segments: Mortgage Insurance, Financial Guaranty and Financial Services. The Mortgage insurance segment provides private mortgage insurance and risk management services to mortgage lending institutions. Financial guaranty business provides guaranties for full and timely payment of principal and interest when due, to the holders of public and structured finance obligations and provides credit protection in the form of credit default swaps, and reinsures public finance, structured finance and trade credit obligations. The Financial services provide mortgage investment and servicing firm credit-sensitive, single-family residential mortgage assets and residential mortgage-backed securities. |
