The Group's principal activity is to underwrite selected property and casualty insurance products through its subsidiaries. It operates in three segments: casualty, property and surety. The casualty segment includes liability products where loss and related settlement expenses must be estimated, as the ultimate disposition of claims may take several years to fully develop. The commercial property coverage insurance includes which can include earthquake, wind, flood and collapse coverage, and inland marine. The surety segment offers a selection of small and medium-size commercial products related to the statutory requirement for bonds on energy-related projects.
