| The Group's principal activities are the extraction, refining and sale of gold. The Group is also involved in research and exploration activities at the Natalka fields in the Magadan region. The Group's production facilities are solely based in Russia. In Jan 2006 the Group's reserves amounted 25.1 mln oz and resources 76.8 mln oz. In 2005 the Group acquired OJSC Aldanzoloto GRK, OJSC Yakutsk Mine Company and obtained control over OJSC South Verkhoyansk Mining Company. In 2006 the Group spinn-off of Norilsk Nickel's gold minig business. |
