| The Group's principal activity is to market engineered wood, surface-finished panels and rail sleeper technology. It also provides infrastructure for the energy and communication sectors. The activities of the Group are carried through two segments Engineered Wood and Infrastructure Technology. Engineered Wood segment produces and markets wood-based panels, surface-finished products such as direct-coated particle board, melamine faced board, decorative materials, high-pressure laminates and post-forming elements. The segment has seven plants based in Germany and Poland. Infrastructure Technology segment manufactures poles and towers made of spun concrete, steel and glass-fiber reinforced plastic. The segment also develops innovative rail-track systems for both urban as well as regional and inter-city rail traffic. During the year 2006, the Group acquired MDF La Baie Inc and diposed the business unit track systems. |
