The Group's principal activities are exploring and mining of gold and developing facilities at Pokrovskiy, Rudnik. The Group also acquires, explores and develops reserves at Pokrovskiy and Pioneer Amur north-east belt including Malomir, Albyn and Tokur, YamalZoloto/Yamal Mining Company and portfolio assets. It operates in four operating divisions: Gold mining, Construction and other services, Exploration and evaluation and corporate. The Group's operations are located in Russia and the United Kingdom. On 28-May-2008, the Group's subsidiary acquired 100% of OAO PRP Stancii. On 31-Jan-2008, its subsidiary Peter Hambro Mining (Cyprus) Limited, acquired 100% of OOO Elga. On 26-Jun-2008, a subsidiary of the Group, ZAO MC Petropavlovsk, acquired a 4% minority interest in ZAO PHM Engineering.
