The Group's principal activity is mining, extracting and selling copper and associated by-products including anode slimes, magnetite and sulphuric acid. It also operates a vermiculite deposit adjacent to the copper operation. It operates in South Africa, in the United Kingdom and North America. Primary product of the Group is copper rod. It operates through three divisions. Copper operation comprises an underground mine, a concentrator, a copper smelter with anode casting facilities and an associated acid plant, an electrolytic refinery tan house, a rod casting plant and by-product recovery plants. Copper By-products include magnetite, nickel sulphate, anode slimes and sulphuric acid. The Industrial Minerals produces and markets vermiculite. The vermiculite operation comprises an open-pit mining operation and recovery plant.
