The Group's principal activities are to own and operate insurance companies, risk bearing entities and insurance underwriters and managers. The Group underwrites ocean marine, inland marine, other liability and aircraft insurance through insurance pools managed by MMO, PMMO and Midwest. It also participates in the risks underwritten for the pools through New York Marine and Gotham.The Managers accept, on behalf of the pools, insurance risks brought to the pools by brokers and others. All premiums, losses and expenses are pro-rated among the pool members in accordance with their percentage participation in the pools. The operations are conducted in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
